Any Cypripediums that are described as "Bloom Size Rescued" are plants that are actually rescued with the states permission and documentation. They are rescued from commercial development of property or road construction sites. They are also of blooming size. I personally find them to be more special than flask propagated plants given the extremely high mortality rate of Cypripedium seed germination in the wild. In the wild I estimate that only one or two plants may make it to blooming size out of about 10,000 seeds.
HYBRIDS AND SPECIES

  | Cypripedium Aki----C. macranthos X C. pubescens C. Aki has very large flowers. The inflated lip has varried shades of rose pink coming from its Asian parentage, with deeper tones in the veins as well. The petals and sepals are streaked with color varying from pink and burgandy to cream. They are and early blooming Cypripedium. NEAR BLOOM SIZE

  | Cypripedium Aki Pastel ---- C. macranthos X C. pubescens (SELECTED FOR COLOR) C. Aki Pastel is just about the finest and rarest of the new hybrids. It has a large inflated lip and beautiful spiraled petals. By carefully selecting the parental crosses, lovely pastel coloring is produced. Aki Pastel has a pure white lip with soft yellow two apricot petals. Extra beauty and richness is added in the form with red spots and streaks. Please note, like all of our hybrids, this is a strain and not a clone and their will be variation between plants. The pictures are typical but not identical. NEAR BLOOM SIZE

 | Cypripedium Hank Small----C. parviflorum x C. henryi As you can see C. Hank Small can give you additional flower in the spring, one above the other, which is not as common among Cypripediums, but common in C. henryi. This cross brings together two species from Asia (C. henryi) and the other from North America (C. parviflorum). They look much like a very robust C. parviflorum with strong color. Crossing two species will undoubtedly give you genetically stronger offspring. Nice bloom size plants. SOLD OUT

 | Cypripedium Gisela ---- C. macranthus X C. parviflorum Cypripedium Gisela will really please you allot even if you have not had any experiences with ladys slippers in your garden. This a robust hybrid and within a few years it will form big clumps, 30-45 cm (11-16 in) high. Regular fertilizing is required for vigorous growth. Just fertilize as you would with other perennials. The flowers open in mid-May with striking beauty and will enrich your garden. Very hardy to zone 5.

  | Cypripedium Gisela Pastel---- C. macranthos X C. parviflorum (SELECTED FOR COLOR) ‘Gisela Pastel’ is an interesting color variation of ‘Gisela’. The red color takes a step into the background allowing a delicate creamy yellow to take precedence. The colors of this hybrid can vary more than ‘Gisela’. You can see two examples of this to the left, one with a very small amount of red and the other with redder coloring. NEAR BLOOM SIZE

 | PKP - Cypripedium Rascal x Cyp. pubescens 3rd year Here we have crossed the hybrid of Cyp. parviflorum and Cyp. kentuckiense with Cyp. pubescens. The result we expect is a Cyp. pubescens type flower and plant but with a wider range of adaptability and more vigor. We expect them to bloom in one to two years.SOLD OUT

 | Cypripedium arietinum The smallest of the ladys slippers, this flower is sriking for its pointy white pouch with read veins and white hairs, surrounded by a pair of brown sepals and petals, giving the impression of a rams head. Light cherry fragrance. One of the rarest North American orchids. Often bloom in its 4th year.
 | Cypripedium flavum The name fits this flower beautifully, its creamy yellow pouch reminiscent of butter makes this a flavorful selection from the Orient.
 | Cypripedium x alaskanum ---- natural cross: C. guttatum X C. yatabeanum This most northern ladys slipper has an attractive pitcher-shaped pouch, white with purple spotting, prized by collectors. This is an easy one to grow and spreads quickly but requires a longer cold period (minimum 5 months under 4 C or 39 F).

 | Cypripedium kentuckiense In my opinion C. kentuckience is the finest to grow and most spectacular of all Cypripedium species. Why? It is the largest size and has a very distinctive color contrast between the petals and dorsal which are shades of burgandy and the large inflated creamy pouch. My favorite! These plants are going into there fourth season. Hardy to Zone 5.
 | Cypripedium formosanum A large pale pink pouch specled with dark pink could make one think of a strawberry doughnut. As an extra bonus, after flowering two pleated leaves in the shape of a fan leave a hint of the Far East. Closely related to C. japonicum, it may also be considered a variant of this species. If not hardy in your zone, it does adapt nicely to pot culture if given a cool rest period over the winter.
 | Cypripedium montanum A pretty stem, often multifloral, bearing delicate white slippers with long, dark, twisted petals. This is another relative of C. parviflorum coming from mountainous regions.
 | Cypripedium candidum C. candidum is the small white ladys slipper found in tall grass prairy lands of North America. This is a rare offering. The light green twisted sepals contrast with its bright white pouch. It can start growing into clumps as shown. C. candidum is the only slipper orchid that can be grown in the full sun. This is a must or it can begin to decline and eventually die. It should however be planted along with with other plants close to it so that it is protected from extended hot periods in the summer. | Cypripedium reginae Cyp. reginae is our lovely North American species, grown in flask. Sometimes called the "showy ladys slipper", and the state flower of Minnesota. It looks just as the picture shows, white petals and pink lip. These are very nice 6th year flask grown Cypripedium reginae rhizomes.

| Cypripedium reginae alba Raising Rarities is now offering a true natural rarity. This is the same size and shape of Minnesotas natural flower, only pure snowy white. This rare clone is invitro propigated and starting its 4th season of growth in spring. Could take 1 to 2 years to get a bloom.

 | Cypripedium parviflorum var. pubescens Common name: Large yellow ladyslipper. (Very close to bloom size). These are one of the first of the ladyslippers to bloom in season. These robust specimens grow from twelve to eighteen inches in height. Here in Toledo, Ohio they are generally in bloom for Mothers Day. SOLD OUT 3rd year RESCUED

 | Cypripedium parviflorum var. parviflorum These are the smaller yellow ladyslipper. Standing about 12 in. tall. I find them to be quite special in choice locations and very often colonize quite well into large clumps of sometimes 20 or more stems. I notice that they are blooming a bit sooner than Cyp. parviflorum var. pubescens. These are flask grown.

 | Dactylhoriza Maculata These are a very nice Orchid with a column of small flowers.
